Trade Show Booth Background Design Ideas

We’ve talked before about how to design an engaging trade show booth, and we’re going to expand on that topic by focusing on background banner design. We’ll also discuss the advantages of using a pop-up banner as your backdrop, and why professional printing matters at trade shows.

Whose attention are you seeking? Ask yourself who exactly you’re trying to reach and use this to help inform your design. For example, if you’re promoting your vertical farming company, identify what grocers, restaurants, and chefs you’re trying to attract. What will get them to stop and make a connection with you?

Can people tell what your unique selling point is? This is your one big thing that separates you from the rest. It should be obvious to potential customers or clients because this is what will get them to stop and say, “Hey, you seem like what I’m looking for! Can you tell me more?”

Use your unique selling point to connect to your target audience in a meaningful way. It’s about more than what makes you different than your competitors. For example, if you’re a women-owned business, advertising that fact on your banners will help attract the audience you’re seeking.

Is your message easy to read? When it comes to background design, keep it tight and clean. Your main text should be large enough to be read from several yards away, or even from across the room. Also, be careful with contrast and color when designing a banner. Using colors that are too similar will make signs difficult to read.

Are there too many images in your design? Images are a great way to tell a story about your brand and pique interest. However, photos and illustrations should be used sparingly. Usually, one image is enough for a trade show booth background design.

If you’re looking for mobility and ease of setup, pop-up banners might be the way to go. They look professional and are painless to set up. They’re a great tool to enhance your booth’s appearance and draw more people in. Because of their durability, you can also reusable for multiple events. Many businesses choose a step-and-repeat banner as a background, because it has a classic feel that photographs well and can be used for different types of events. Here are four reasons why we like them so much.

    • Portable—Pop-up banners can be folded up and stored in a bag. They’re ultra lightweight and easy to carry around.
    • Easy to Use—The graphic stays attached to the frame so setting up only takes a few minutes. There’s no need for special tools or equipment.
    • Eye-CatchingLights are often included in a kit and help highlight your information. Remember, when designing the background keep any text at chest-level and above. This way as people walk past it naturally catches their eye.
    • Customizable—Do you need a small banner, or an extra-large one? There are several size options available to fit your needs and custom sizes can be ordered as well.

Incorporating a pop-up banner into your booth design will help your booth stand out in all the buzz. It will help you get more attention and make some meaningful connections. High quality printing can also set your booth apart from the rest.
